Leisure Party to take sabbatical

Dear fellow leisure seekers,

I have decided to take the Leisure Party web site off-line - on permanent sabbatical. This is something I have considered before and which has felt inevitable for a while. For my part, I feel I've taken the web site as far as I can and my focus is now pulling me elsewhere. If any of you feel passionately that this site (or some aspect of it) should continue, I invite you to channel that passion into creating something yourselves. I shall leave all of the material I've gathered on-line for a while and you're welcome to use as much of it as you like. This feels healthy. I am happy for the Leisure Party to dissolve. Perhaps it will emerge elsewhere in some new form, under a new name. I am not attached to it as a permanent creation. It is the spirit behind its creation that matters and this spirit resides in each of us, always and forever.

I am especially delighted by the emergence of CLAWS. Its clarity and structure are inspiring and it feels very akin to the Leisure Party in its initial mission. This has heartened me in my decision to release the Leisure Party.

As regards the discussion group - perhaps its members will meet up at the CLAWS Chat Channel, perhaps one of you will feel moved to set up another list under a different name...

Joy and Peace,
Sarah Nelson, former Leisure Party designer and discussion list administrator

Follow-up: I took Sarah up on her offer, and have merged her Leisure Party site with the CLAWS site. You're now looking at the results!

I also started a CLAWS discussion list in 1999, which is still going strong as of August 2002, with over 60 regular members.
